This weekly session guides participants through an exploration of the ancient philosophy of yoga and developing a meditative practice of sound and contemplation.

The recitation of the sutras will illuminate their profound significance and practical application, empowering you to cultivate a deeper understanding of yoga philosophy and integrate it into your daily life.

  • Practice reciting word by word and linking words grammatically for chanting.
  • Memorize with meaning by repetition.
  • Receive instant detailed feedback and guidance to improve confidence and pronunciation.

Continue attending group sessions to strengthen your recitation of the yoga sutras with more clarity and confidence.

Suitable for all levels of Sanskrit enthusiasts, from beginners to experienced practitioners.

This is an intro to Sanskrit experience that is for

  • absolute beginners

Students and professionals in any Indic knowledge system:

Interactive and call-and-response participation requirements to complete this course:

  • Computer with internet connection
  • Zoom downloaded/updated

A digital file or hard copy of the Yoga Sutra Notebook can be purchased from the American Sanskrit Institute.

We practice each word with detail and precision in class. You will have the tools to help you continue practicing including a recording of the sutras that we practice in class. 

Class size is limited to small groups of 10-12 participants for maximum practice and interaction.
